He does it all for our good and his glory, which are concepts in partnership.Īs Christians, we must trust God’s plan, work for good, and prove faithful with whatever he gives us. He does everything, controls everything, and does not violate our free will to do it. Though Satan and sin have a hand in disaster, God is still sovereign over all of it. It is a mistake to believe that anytime something happens that we like, it is God working, and anytime something happens that we don’t like, disaster, it is satan. Some in both realms have rebelled against God, but he has still managed to have his will done and see his sovereign plan through. He has managed to create beings-heavenly beings, and mankind on earth who have their own volition. He has created the whole of existence, in heaven and on earth. The fact is that God is the most glorious. God does everything for his glory, and that is a wonderful thing for us. But in the context of the whole redemptive story, this is a powerful and good truth. Taken out of context, this is a hard teaching. It is God who creates disaster, darkness. ![]() When he says it here, he means it to be both literal and symbolic, and his next statement shows that.
